Conservation and Analysis.

The starting point of any conservation project is the analysis of the condition of the building, object or memorial. There are a number of analytical procedures that when applied can lead to a greater understanding of the factors contributing to its current state and also help formulate proposals for its repair.

Below are some of the analyses Adamson Conservation can provide:

  • Michrochemical identification of mineral salts.
  • Polarised microscopy for investigation of lime mortars, plasters and stone identification.
  • Surface layer analysis using binocular microscopy
  • Microphotography.
  • Monitoring of building environments including data logging of relative humidity.
  • Mortar analysis
